How does it work?

o £10 entry fee + £5 registration for main 11-point tournament, separate fees for optional Consolation & Last Chance
o Season runs January - December

Rules
o Legal moves only
o Tournament will use UKBGF rules
o Results of matches are included in the UKBGF's ranking system
o Clocks - clock preference is applied. If either player wishes to use a clock, and one is available, the match is played on the clock. Tournament Director retains the right to impose a clock on any match. Standard settings (2 mins per game + 12 secs per move e.g 11-point match = 22 mins + 12 secs per move)
o Baffle Box - option. Both players must agree to using a baffle box
o Players who do not complete a tournament i.e. withdraw before losing a match will lose any accrued Pennine Trophy points for that event (max 2 points per tournament) and have a loss recorded. This is ensure that all players respect monthly events as well as the annual Pennine Trophy and that players don’t enter just to maintain their position in the Manchester/Bradford/Pennine Trophies.
o If any additional rulings are required then these will be handled by the Tournament Director and selected experienced players at the tournament

Pennine Trophy
The Pennine Trophy is an annual backgammon tournament comprising a set of events at both Manchester and Bradford.
Registrations by 11.25am (unless notified by TD) - Tournament commences promptly after registration closes
There will be 3 separate leagues, Bradford, Manchester and a combination of the two. From 2018, there will also be 3 separate Consolation/Last Chance leagues.
Trophies will be awarded to League winners and also 2nd and 3rd placed players in Pennine Trophy (Main and Consolation/Last Chance)
Cash prizes will be awarded to Top 6 placed players in both Manchester and Bradford leagues. As the money used to fund this competition is coming from registration fees (i.e. the more events you attend the more you contribute) there will be an eligibility criteria as follows:
o To qualify for Manchester or Bradford trophy/prize money - Minimum events attended 12 (50%) or 8 at relevant venue. If a player qualifies to win a Top 6 cash prize in both the Main and Consolation event then they will receive the higher prize only. The lower prize will be awarded to the next highest finisher.
Format
There will be 24 rounds, 12 at each venue. Each round will feature an 11-pt knockout format.
If more than 16 players later rounds may be reduced to 7 or 9-pts.
Points will be awarded as follows:
o Tournament Match win = 1-pt
o The player with the most points in each league will be the winner
Tie Breakers
Entry fees and prizes for Monthly tournaments
o £10 entry fee. Winner 75% Runner up 25%. (100% return, no rake)
o Optional £10 side pools. Winner takes all unless involved players agree a split. (100% return, no rake)
o £5 registration (100% return less any promotional costs will go towards trophies and cash prizes for annual competitions)
Bonus Tournaments
The added money "bonus" tournaments are open to all players but will be limited to a maximum 32 entries. Preference will be given to players with the highest number of attendances from the previous 6 Pennine trophy events.
Registration will be open 1 month prior to the event and following the above preference criteria, places will be on a first come, first served basis.
To qualify to win the added money, entrants must have attended either 3 of the previous 6 Pennine trophy tournaments including at least 1 at the relevant venue or 3 of the previous 6 tournaments held at the relevant venue.
If the winner or runner up is a non eligible player the money will be awarded to the highest qualified finisher(s)
